Events Up Ahead!

This year is really starting to move along!  It’s hard to believe that we’re already in the middle of May.  This means that in two weeks I will be participating in my first art show of the year, the Winding Roads Art Tour.  It’s two days of visiting artist studios in our very scenic Driftless Area.  The area is called Driftless because it’s a small part of the Midwest that did not get flattened by the glaciers (they went around us) and, therefore, did not drop any drift as they receded.  What that means is that the area if full of ridges and valleys.  Beautiful barns and farm houses dot the landscape.  The views from the ridge tops can be breathtaking.  Cheerful streams full of trout run down the valleys.

The Winding Roads Art Tour takes place the weekend of June 4th and 5th from 10 am – 5 pm.  It was postponed two years in a row because of Covid.  This area is full of artists, and we are all looking forward to hosting guests in our homes and studios.  This year, I will be set up in my home, along with my friend Angie Feltes of Kindred Threads with her exquisite handwovens and jewelry.  Oddly, I have just moved my studio to another location (too small to be a tour stop); however, I will put together a temporary studio at my house for anyone who is curious about what a day in the life of a jeweler is like.  For more information and the tour map, please visit www.windingroadsart.com.  I will also have jewelry at VIVA Gallery at 217 S. Main St. in downtown Viroqua.

The weekend afterward, on June 11th, I will be at Artspire from 10 am – 5 pm in La Crosse in the parking lot of the Pumphouse Regional Art Center located at 119 King St, La Crosse, WI 54601.  It is an Art Fair full of food, music, and fun!  I also have jewelry at River City Gallery at 321 Main Street in La Crosse.

Needless to say, I have been busy trying to get ready for all these events!  Having a separate studio space has also made it easier for me to experiment with new ideas.  I’ve been having a lot of fun, but I have to admit I wish there were a few more hours in the day.  There are so many things I would like to learn and try.

Last year was a difficult one for me, so I’m happy to report that I’m feeling much better this year and looking forward to seeing and visiting with people and talking about art with everyone.  I hope to see you at one of the events in June!
